Freshman Sports Meet Tug of War Rules

Number of Participants

Each department may register 1 champion class team (16 males, 2 females). Only when the team lacks sufficient members of one gender can the following substitutions be used: (1) Teams short on males may substitute 2 females for 1 male; (2) Teams with fewer than 2 or no female members may either field the available female(s), or replace them with 1 additional male). If the declared team composition is found to be inaccurate, the team's competition results will be voided.

Check-in Procedures

  1. Report to the venue at least 5 minutes before the scheduled time according to the match timetable. If a team fails to appear within 5 minutes after the match start time, it shall be deemed a forfeit.
  2. When the match time arrives, if the department has more than 12 players present, the match begins immediately. If fewer than 12 are present, rule 1 above applies.
  3. All participating students must carry their student ID for identity verification.

Competition Format

  1. Single-elimination format.
  2. Each match is best-of-three sets. Each set has a 3-minute time limit. If no winner is determined when time expires, the result is decided by the marker position.

Competition Regulations

  1. Players must wear athletic clothing and sports shoes; no other items may be carried.
  2. Spectators and student coaches may not enter the controlled area of the competition zone; they must watch from the stands.
  3. Departments found to be cheating or violating regulations will be immediately ruled as losing the match, and their eligibility for the annual Ma Yuehan Cup (马约翰杯) Sportsmanship Award will be revoked.

Matters not addressed herein shall be interpreted by the Freshman Sports Meet Competition Group.
