The predecessor of Tsinghua University, Tsinghua Academy, was founded in 1911 and renamed Tsinghua School in 1912. In 1928, it was renamed National Tsinghua University. After the outbreak of the Anti-Japanese War in 1937, it moved south to Changsha and formed the National Changsha Provisional University with Peking University and Nankai University. Since the reform and opening up, Tsinghua University has gradually established its long-term goal of building a world-class university and entered a new era of vigorous development. The school has restored or newly established science, liberal arts, medical disciplines and economic management disciplines, and established a graduate school and a college of continuing education. In 1999, the Central Academy of Arts and Crafts merged to form the Academy of Fine Arts of Tsinghua University. In 2012, the Graduate Department of the People's Bank of China was merged into Tsinghua University PBC School of Finance. With the strong support of the state and society, through the implementation of the "211 Project" and the "985 Project" and the "Double First-Class" construction, Tsinghua University has made great progress in talent training, scientific research, social services, cultural inheritance and innovation, and international cooperation and exchanges. Currently, Tsinghua University has 21 colleges and 59 departments. Facing the future, Tsinghua University will uphold the school motto of "continuous self-improvement and moral integrity" and the school spirit of "actions speak louder than words", adhere to the school-running style of "integrating Chinese and Western, connecting ancient and modern, and infiltrating liberal arts and sciences" and the training characteristics of "both professional and professional, and comprehensive development". Building moral character and cultivating people as the fundamental task, serving the country as the highest pursuit, taking discipline construction as the foundation of development, deepening reform as a strong driving force, and strengthening party building as a strong guarantee, continue to deepen reform and "double first-class" construction, achieve connotative high-quality development, strive to be at the forefront of world-class universities, and make new and greater contributions to national development, people's happiness, and the progress of human civilization.
